Okay, we've gone through bottles and bottles and bottles of shampoo and conditioner only to end up back where we started with hair that we feel like we need to wash all over again. Some smell amazing, others smell like chemicals, the most recent one was purple, and left Tehya's hair actually purple, yet nothing seemed to really work. We're also definitely those people that try to wash their hair as little as possible, 2 or 3 times a week depending on how much we exercise. We feel like it gets better the dirtier it is, we know, but we're just being 100% honest.

We also have this thing against using the shampoo and conditioners at hotels. We used to collect a bunch and bring them home just to line our medicine cabinet, but we'd never use them. Maybe it's that we aren't really big fans of fragrance, and we don’t like not knowing if the shampoo and conditioner has sulfates in it. We're not all hippy dippy, and check the ingredients in everything we use on our body, but we like to know that what we're washing our hair with isn’t just going to dry it out and make our scalps super itchy, (by the way, coconut oil to the rescue if you’ve got that problem).

It just so happens that our family took a trip to Maui a couple of weeks ago and of course Maya packed her many shampoos and Tehya forgot hers. Tehya can’t remember if she “forgot” them or she just didn’t feel like packing them because they always explode all over her suitcase. Anyways, we were forced to use the hotel shampoo and conditioner which we really never do, and it was one of the best thing we’ve done in our lives in a long time.

Living in California, we're in and out of the ocean all the time and we haven’t quite figured out the best way to handle that dry, salty, crunchy feeling that hair gets post-swim. We used to just brush it off, like no big deal, right? It looks somewhat normal after and then you just rinse it, but that not caring attitude definitely caught up with me after a while, and we were left a lot of the time with completely knotted, dry, sometimes orangeish, hair.

The shampoo and conditioner we found in Maui is called Malie and it's filled with a bunch of yummy stuff and made specifically for ANY hair type. Hair by the sea, out in the sun, drenched in [fake] color, literally, anything. The best part is that it smells like sunshine, greenery, and the best place in the world, duh, because it's made in Hawaii!

It's also free of everything that’s bad for you: sulfates, parabens, phthalate, and petroleum. We both fight over whose bathroom it should stay in, and that’s when you know it's good stuff cause we’ve got completely different hair.

So if you’re looking for shampoo or conditioner that smells like sunshine, flowers and the rainforest, looks pretty in your shower, and ACTUALLY works (so you don’t have to wash your hair every single day), or you just wanted to know what we both use, there ya go!
